Kailua-Kona is on the western side of the island. The Kona Cabana condo is about 6 miles south of Kona in Keauhou Bay. The island has two main cities, Kona (west) and Hilo (East).

The highways on the island are pretty simple. Highway 19 starts in Kona and takes a northern route around the top of the island and terminates in Hilo. Highway 11 starts in Hilo and takes a southern route through Volcanoes National Park and terminates in Kona. There is also one additional, Highway 200 that provides a more direct route between Kona and Hilo. It is called the Saddle road because it traverses the saddle between Muana Kea to the north and Muana Loa to the south.
